Gonzalo Pita was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on Nov 10, 1967. He moved to New York in 2007 and he began to work with impasto in 2008, experimenting and honing his technique to arrive at the series of paintings he calls landscapes or ‘paisaje’.
 
"I’ve always dabbled with the abstract where there are no rules, as if a kid, playing with the unconscious, by observing, absorbing music, reading and sifting through thoughts. This particular series of impasto painting landscapes must’ve come from distinct yet combined experiences of my past and my present. I see both unfolding in my paintings. A certain range of patina and a blur of shapes from both mountains and industrial landscapes have inevitably manifested itself into my latest impasto painting series."
